Is my Order ID and Shipment ID different?

To clarify, your Order ID and Shipment ID are not the same, although they are closely related.


🧾 What is an Order ID?
Your Order ID refers to your overall order made through JustShip — regardless of how many shipments or recipients are involved. This ID typically looks like this: 2205183ACBHV

You will only have one Order ID per order submission.


📦 What is a Shipment ID?
Your Shipment ID refers to a specific shipment within your order. It’s a more detailed identifier, as some customers may be shipping multiple parcels (to different recipients or addresses) within a single order. This ID typically looks like this: 2205183ACBHVR01X

Shipment IDs look similar to your Order ID, but they have a suffix that tells us which shipment it is.

Here’s how to understand the suffix:

R01 = the first shipment in your order

R02 = the second shipment in your order

And so on...

As such, if you’re shipping to multiple recipients under the same order, each shipment will have its own unique Shipment ID — R01, R02, R03, etc.

You can view both your Order ID and Shipment ID in your JustShip Order Confirmation Email.
