Do you offer insurance & should I opt for it?

Yes, we offer optional insurance for your shipments at a fee of 2.4% of your declared item value. This insurance covers loss and damage during transit but does not cover shipment delays.

What does insurance cover?

Loss of shipment
Physical damage to items in transit

However, insurance does not cover:
Shipment delays
Items that were inadequately packed
Items with values that are difficult to verify or considered extraordinary in value (e.g. luxury watches, designer jewellery, rare collectibles)

Important notes on claims

The claimant is responsible for proving the item’s value and the nature of the damage or loss.
Claims will be reviewed by the insurer and are not guaranteed to be approved.
Packaging plays a critical role in claims. If your item was insufficiently protected or not packed to withstand normal transit, your claim may be rejected.

Should I opt for insurance?

While it’s entirely optional, we highly recommend insuring your shipment if:
The item is high in value
It would be difficult or costly to replace
You want extra peace of mind

If you choose not to purchase insurance, you will not be eligible to file a claim for loss or damage.

Are there any limitations?

Yes. For items of extraordinary value or with a value that is difficult to ascertain, our courier partner may impose a maximum liability cap of USD 1,000, even if you declare a higher value and purchase insurance.

Why is there a liability cap?
Couriers set this cap to manage the inherent risks of transporting goods that are challenging to verify, replace, or insure accurately. This includes items like:

High-end jewelry
Luxury fashion
Rare collectibles
Artwork
Antiques

These items often lack standardized pricing, may have fluctuating market value, or are uniquely irreplaceable. Because of the difficulty in establishing a clear replacement value — especially in the event of damage or loss — a standard liability limit (e.g., USD $1,000) is used to ensure consistency and fairness in claims handling.

This policy is not a reflection of your item’s legitimacy or worth — it’s a universal safeguard applied across all shipments that fall within these categories.

What does this mean for you?
We want to reassure you that to date, we’ve not encountered any issues shipping high-value items through our service. Many of our shippers proceed confidently with insurance in place.

While the courier’s liability cap may affect the maximum payout, having insurance still provides an added layer of protection and can support your claim should anything go wrong.

Want full coverage?
If full-value protection is essential, we recommend arranging external insurance independently.
Some of our customers have successfully used Secursus Insurance for this purpose.
